A journey through the moments that make us pause in life
I am told, “Please wait,” at a bus stand,
A token in hand, I waited in a hospital.
At the airport, I waited with excitement —
In life, one can’t escape waiting.
Glad at times, waiting for a relative,
Tense, when expecting a newborn.
Sad, at the final moments of a funeral —
With fear, we wait for exam results.
Waiting can turn endless in life,
Sometimes bearing no fruits at all.
Expectation adds weight to waiting,
Making life feel disappointed forever.
She waited for me all those years,
To open the door and enter her world.
Unlucky me — I didn’t realize in time;
She left, and now I wait for her return.
