Delhi Through My Eyes – A Photo Story of a City That Slowly Became Home

“A Photo Story of Delhi” = Delhi, the capital city of India — never in my wildest imagination did I think it would one day become my second home.

My professional life in India began with a multinational company that had offices in both Mumbai and Delhi. After a short stay in Mumbai, what was supposed to be a temporary shift to Delhi slowly turned into a long and eventually permanent stay.

After a short career break, while trying to settle down in my home state, I made several attempts to move to Mumbai for many reasons, one of which was deeply personal. I spent nearly two months there, even meeting some influential personalities in the ruling political circles of the city. Yet, despite all the efforts, things did not fall into place.

Fate had other plans.

Just when a job opportunity in Mumbai was within touching distance, the second wave of COVID forced me to return home. Around the same time, another company in Delhi NCR shortlisted me — and eventually selected me.

And that’s how my second stint in Delhi began. By then, I had already started feeling that Delhi might eventually become the place where I would settle.

Being someone who loves photography and tends to click pictures whenever and wherever something catches my eye, my phone gallery slowly filled with hundreds of photographs — many of them from Delhi — captured during my life in the city since 2010.

One regret I still carry is losing a hard disk that contained thousands of documents and more than 10,000 photographs. I clearly remember one trip to Jammu, Srinagar, and Vaishno Devi, where I might have taken more than 2,000 photos alone. Looking at the breathtaking beauty of the region — truly deserving of the title “Paradise on Earth” — I was clicking pictures like a crazy young kid who had just received his favorite toy.

From historic monuments to quiet street corners, from crowded markets to peaceful mornings, Delhi kept offering frames worth preserving.

Over time, these photographs became more than just images. They turned into memories — fragments of life lived in a city that slowly became familiar, comfortable, and eventually personal.

So when I started thinking about my next photo story, the idea came naturally: why not make it about Delhi?

This photo story is a small visual tribute to the city — its monuments, streets, people, and everyday moments that often go unnoticed.

These moments are simply how the city revealed itself to me — imperfect, vibrant, and endlessly alive.
