A Paradise In God’s Own Country – Ramakkalmedu

A FLASHBACK

Got confused with the title??? God\’s Own Country, Paradise, etc.

This is about a place that I had already covered with a post titled “WHY LEONARDO DI’CAPRIO FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE? A  place in Idukki of God\’s Own Country, Kerala.

Missed?

Read it Here

And if you are a bit busy, I will give you a brief.

LAVISHING GREENERY, FORESTS, AND SPICES

The place is in Idukki District of Kerala – The God’s Own Country – and it is one of the most marvelous places in the state.  The Hill station is situated in the Western Ghats of Kerala. And unlike the concrete jungles of other cities, most of the area of this district is covered with forest and greenery. And some of the forests have wildlife and and some others have tribals too. As per the Governmet website half of the area still remains forest.

Moonnar, the famous tourist destination of God’s Own Country, Kerala, for both national and international travelers alike, is also part of this Idukki district.

Idukki district is also known as the “Spice Garden” of the state due to the variety of spice items this district has produces and exports.

One of Asia’s highest Arch dams is also in the Idukki district. This almost half-century-old dam is still serving most of the power supply for the state.

And needless to say, this place with different waterfalls, wildlife sanctuary, Tiger reserve forests, etc, makes more meaning to the state’s title of God’s Own Country.

WHY Di’CAPRIO FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE

The famous Hollywood actor was so mesmerized by the beauty of this place. And let me quote the lines regarding this (Ref: Native Planet)

The scenic beauty of Ramakkalmedu has attracted thousands of people, including Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio has reportedly said about this place that \”If there is a paradise on earth,

In my blog post, I initially felt it wasn’t necessary to include many photos of this scenic place. However, some readers were truly captivated by the views, so I decided to create a dedicated photo feature showcasing some of the best pictures I’ve taken.

  1. This looks like such a great place to visit. I haven’t been to India yet but it is on my Bucketlist. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place

  2. Wow, that looks like it was a pretty steep climb to the top of what you called the “Hill” but I have to say the views over all of the Idukki District of Kerala is amazing. No wonder why they call it all God’s Own Country! I think when we return to India, I will have to spend more time exploring this part of Kerala. Moonar sounds great plus I would love to experience more of the spices, aromas, and flavors throughout all the spice garden

  3. I’m an avid nature lover and enjoy any type of forest! I’ve never heard of this place before and I’ve just now put it onto my future travel’s list! So stunning greenery and landscape and wonderful to take nature photography!

  4. I would love to go walking on those hills, and stopping now and again to take in the stunn views. Gorgeous
